There aren’t many films or series that dive deep into the emotional wounds carried from childhood. Usually, when we see adults on screen with a unique perspective on life, we only get quick flashes of their past. However, Rasu Ranjith’s new web series, Parachute, stands out because it addresses parental issues and manages to correct them before they spiral out of control.
The story kicks off with Varun (Shakthi Rithvik), who is both anxious and exhausted, searching for his little sister, Rudra (Iyal), while their parents are busy filing a missing person report. This setup raises questions about whether the children will be found, why they went missing, and how poor parenting can lead to serious mistakes. Over the course of five episodes, the series provides satisfying answers to these questions.
Shakthi portrays a caring older brother well, while Iyal plays a clever sister who helps cover for his mistakes. Their interactions, like the kite incident and the mark list, highlight their sibling bond. It’s interesting to note Kani Thiru’s character as a nameless housewife; she represents a figure often overlooked in family decisions but delivers one of the most impactful lines in the series, confronting her husband about his guilt-tripping over financial struggles. The cop character, Kiruba, played by Krishna, also adds depth to the story, even if he doesn’t get as much focus. Overall, Parachute effectively blends emotional storytelling with character development, making it a compelling watch.
